Hello from Tokyo: A Small Window into my World

Welcome to tamai.blog.

I am writing this from my quiet desk in Shinagawa, Tokyo.

By day, I work as a physician-scientist, diving deep into the world of data and epidemiology. But when I step away from the screen, I find myself drawn to a different kind of world—one of tea ceremonies, the game of Go, and the silent beauty of Japanese craftsmanship.

This blog is simply a place where these two worlds meet.

What you might find here

I don’t have a grand plan for this site, but I expect to share occasional thoughts on:

  • Science & Health: Reflections from my professional life in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Culture & Aesthetics: My personal journey with traditional arts and the “stillness” they provide.
  • The Art of Learning: My humble attempts to improve my English and explore new fields of knowledge.

Learning in Public

One thing to note: English is my second language. I am still a student, and this blog is part of my “Learning in Public” process. There will be mistakes, and my expressions may be imperfect—but I’ve decided that it’s okay to share my thoughts as they are.

Thank you for dropping by

I’m not looking to change the world with this blog. I’m just happy to have a small corner on the internet to organize my thoughts.

If you happened to stumble upon this page by chance, thank you for stopping by. Whether you stay for a minute or a bit longer, I’m simply glad you’re here.

Feel free to look around whenever you have a moment.

A New Chapter

This blog is a new chapter in a journey that began in 2001. After two decades with WordPress, it remains a silent partner in my intellectual inquiry. I look forward to sharing more about this long history in my next entry.
